What is Reiki?

Reiki (ray-kee) is a Japanese form of energy healing. It means 'universal life energy' and is a 'laying on hands' technique of healing that reduces stress, promotes faster healing that benefits the mental, physical and emotional sides of any situation.

Reiki is a simple and safe method of natural healing that is avalable to everyone. Along with promoting healing, it helps to balance and restore a person's energy field and chakras.

During a Reiki session, the client remains clothed while the reiki practitioner places their hands on different points of the clients body, including the head, shoulders, abdomen, legs and feet. Most clients go into a very relaxed state of mind, feeling hot or cold sensations from the energy exchange.

Reiki was developed in Japan in 1917 and brought to the US by Hawayo Takata. It has gained increasing popularity and is now used in many hospitals across the US to assist healing.

Reiki classes are now offered online due to the increasing demand for Reiki practitioners.
